Sotto Voce
— 2018
Music for four voices and electronics
At the centre of this project is the work ‘Sottovoce’ by the Spanish composer José Manuel López López. He sets a text from the 12th century, ‘De silentio’ by the Castilian poet Pedro Alfonso. He gets to the heart of the text using sung and spoken voices, whispering and even breathing, using electronics like a microscope and examining emotion like a magnifying glass. Marc Garcia Vitoria has added further movements to his work ‘Native Foreigners’, the first part of which SoloVoices had already premiered at Gare du Nord in March 2017. In addition, works by Kaija Saariaho and a world premiere by Karin Wetzel will be performed. All the pieces feature electronic music.
